About
“
My job is placing a layer behind the acting. One that gives you information, without noticing getting informed. My job is visual communication.
”

Honestly, i dont like talking that much. But telling stories. Without using words. My vocabulary is color, material, form, function, contex, space, emptiness - all things that can be seen - and imagined. Makin the story be felt. Directly. Without detours. Cause thats what its all about with films, for me.
So, first things first, my job is visual communication. Not just choosing nice locations and putting nice things in nice sets, but placing a layer behind the acting. That gives you information. Mostly unnoticed. Sometimes subtle. Sometimes brute. Telling you what character does one person have by giving you a short look in his room. Or by what lies on the passengers seat in his car. By which car he drives. And where he parks it. By letting your mind create a story behind the picture by yourself. Because of what is stored unconsciously in your social, cultural and historical memory. So that you somehow become part of the whole thing. And last but not least, by putting things together in yet unseen ways, creating different realities, using new visual vocabulary and - leave you emotional. In whatever form.
Secondly, there is not just the aim to do good production design, in visual terms, but also to make good production design affordable. Input vs output. Providing a needsbased and solutionorientated way of working - evaluating whats best for each individual project, that may vary as different projects got different claims - but never doing things cause they have been done like that for ages. And that exclusivly works just when each and everyone plays team - always keepin in mind one's not workin to feed egos but to do service on the project...
Enough of words for someone who's rather into visual -
go, be true, pay respect & have fun.
